Step Away From Mineral Oil In Skin Care Products

I have heard that mineral oil is the second leading cause of skin aging next the sun. I do endorse Arbonne products. I have used them for a very long time. With that said, I will also say there are many other natural skin care products available. Just make sure you toss out your products with mineral oil.

Mineral oil. It doesn’t sound like something you should avoid, right? All of our lives, we’re told that our bodies need various kinds of minerals to stay healthy. And of course, that’s still very true — but mineral oil, on the other hand, is something that your body (and specifically your skin) doesn’t benefit from at all.

Simply, mineral oil is a clear, odorless oil that is derived from a non-vegetable mineral source, particularly petroleum. It is widely used in cosmetics because it’s mild and very rarely causes allergic reactions, and it’s been long believed to make skin softer and healthier looking. Mineral oil is in many of the cosmetic and skin care products we use — moisturizing creams, body lotions, lipstick, lip balm, and shampoos, to name just a few. 1. Step away indeed – from the hype. Read here. http://www.paulaschoice.com/cosmetic-ingredient-dictionary/definition/emollients/mineral-oil

Paula Begoun and her team spend all their time reviewing studies of ingredients and rating products. Yes, she also has her own line, but that was developed to fill a need she saw many years after she started rating products. She rates other products just as high as her own. I will warn you though, she is not a big fan of Arbonne. People like me have to avoid Arbonne for the very reasons she states. I have the most sensitive skin you could ever find. I can’t even use hair gel, mousse, or hair spray! Great if they work for you though. I love the way the shower gels smell.

There are definitely alternatives to mineral oil, but I don’t think it should make you run for the hills (unless you have evaluated the validity of any study that says it clogs pores and everything else these women claim, not that I recommend straight mineral oil on your face).

    • I appreiciate you sharing. I understand everyone has their own skin care needs. My personal experience is when I stopped using mineral oil containing products my skin improved. And I know Arbonne is not for everyone, this is just my experience and thoughts. If mineral oil works for you go for it. Do you know that it is banned in some European countries? They do not allow it in their skin products because they believe it has negative effects on the skin.
